Challenge

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

National Landing Research (NLR) approached Creative Cycle to help them establish a comprehensive branding: the visual brand, brand ecosystem, brand guide, and user interface design for a new website.
As a fledgling organization, they needed a strong visual identity and online presence that reflected their commitment to cutting-edge research and world-class service delivery.
The challenge was clear: we needed to create a brand from scratch that was eye-catching and representative of the outstanding quality of its facilities and services. Additionally, we had to design a visually appealing user interface for their website that effectively conveyed their message and reach across the United States. The job was to create a brand and its online presence with an identity that would resonate with its audience and establish a meaningful connection.

Solution

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

We relied on our design thinking approach and facilitated a branding workshop that helped us better understand who NLR is, its personality, its purpose, and how it must be perceived. The workshop concluded with a branding position statement, a document that was our working guideline for creating and implementing the brand identity for NLR.

Then, we started working on creating the brand visual identity along with the identity guide. Additionally, they pored over several materials that could help NLR strengthen its presence in the Washington, D.C., area.

We are currently supporting the implementation of their user interface.
During the branding workshop, we learned NLR's most distinctive aspects that make it different from similar organizations. We concluded that being located near Washington, D.C., is essential for its brand identity and strategy. We doubled down on this narrative and used different design elements to bring the Washingtn Monument right in frnt and center of the brand.

Relevance

For startups, setting aside time for research can be a luxury that is difficult to afford. When working on a tight budget, we focus on spending as much time as possible getting to know the founders and learning their vision for the organization and what they see as their competitive advantages.

In our collaboration with NLR, the branding workshop generated a direction that was easy to follow. It allowed us to come up with a clear idea that resonated with the client, and we were able to quickly implement brand collateral to help NLR begin to speak with a consistent voice to its audience.
