INTRODUCTION

Our team collaborated with the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA) to work on the visual identity and the website of the Stormwater Day event of this year. The webinar commemorates the first National Stormwater Day and brings together leading experts in the field to talk about the impacts of the MS4 program, what people know about stormwater systems now and where the national MS4 program is leading.

Challenge

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

We had to bring awareness of stormwater pollution as a national issue. There is an increased understanding of the impacts of new contaminants, such as microplastics, PFAS and 6PPDq. The influence of urban runoff in the dynamics of these pollutants is driving awareness of stormwater pollution as a national issue.

The NMSA called us to give them a hand on creating a brand new visual identity and a landing page for the registration to the webinar for the Stormwater day webinar. The new identity had to be appealing not only for the assistants, but anyone who’s trying to reduce its impact on the planet. It also had to bring awareness for the people who wanted to register for the event.

Solution

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

To bring awareness to the webinar we needed to define the new identity. With a solid typography and elements that symbolize how the stormwater should flow: clean, unpolluted and safe from any external contaminant, we crafted a new logo that represents the values of the organization while giving the day a fresh look.

Once we had the new identity, we started to develop a landing page for the registration. People can sign up to the webinar just by entering the site that has all the information that people need to join the event. Speakers, dates and of course basic information about why the Stormwater day should be a national issue. We needed to generate awareness not only for the event but also for the problem of stormwater these days. So we also run a social media ad campaign to generate traffic for the new website. The call to action was simple: sign up to the webinar.

Relevance

For us it’s always inspiring to collaborate with people that want a better world for everyone. In this collaboration, specifically, we had to learn more about the problem of the stormwater in our time to deliver a proper new identity for the webinar. Working hand by hand with the NMSA gave us some new and helpful tools to do what we do best.

Now we are a lot more conscious about this matter. We always knew that water wasn't a renewable resource, but we didn’t know how endangered it was. Especially stormwater. Now we know that the way we live has a direct influence on its quality and it's our responsibility to start talking about it more.

We are happy with the result because we got to help a cause that will make a change.
