INTRODUCTION

Creative Cycle cooperated with the World Bank's Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) to redesign its website. Together, we explored the Program's mission, activities, and audiences, allowing us to design a site that provides a high-value user experience and conveys the SSATP brand more effectively.

Challenge

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

The World Bank's Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) approached Creative Cycle to redesign its website as a clearinghouse for road safety improvement initiatives in Africa.

We sought to improve access to information, simplify site organization, and visually treat content to communicate effectively SSATP's brand identity. It was relevant to emphasize its affliation with the World Bank as the site serves the government, partner organizations, and road safety professionals. The diversity of audiences required a versatile web design that satisfied the needs of all of them simultaneously. The site also required optimization for mobile viewing. Finally, SSATP and Creative Cycle jointly developed a social media campaign and brand visuals to promote this initiative.

Solution

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

In an initial discovery session, Creative Cycle and SSATP delved deeper into SSATP's mission, audiences, values, and initiatives. Our teams discussed shortcomings in the current site and brainstormed ways to improve the design and content to meet SSATP goals. These results helped visually define each of their three topic areas, providing a unique brand identity for each and ensuring its equal representation. Finally, each pillar page was subsequently themed around its own color, visually unifying all content related to that pillar and making each topic area easier to remember.

Following this discovery phase, we worked together on ideation. Creative Cycle engaged SSATP in a two-way conversation to build a dashboard of ideas, define requirements and deliverables, and identify the proper tools and communication channels. Once we established cohesion and consensus, our teams had a solid foundation to begin execution.
Together, we decided on a mre vibrant design that color-cded SSATP's three pillars: road safety (red), urban transport and mobility (yellow), and regional integration (aqua).

Relevance

As a result of this collaboration, SSATP has a more intuitive, mobile-friendly, and brand-consistent website that offers easy access to information and positions SSATP as a trusted resource.
Creative Cycle and SSATP subsequently teamed up to create a library of brand assets to align with the new web design. All these products debuted at the October 2019 African Road Safety Meeting, with the active participation of prominent global stakeholders.
