INTRODUCTION


COMPASS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income individuals build financial security. Through its FSS Program, it provides users with a structured savings plan and pairs them with a financial coach to guide them toward their goals.

Challenge

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

Compass works with financial coaches and clients, primarily interacting through mobile phones. Because of this, the digital experience needed to be seamless, accessible, and intuitive, ensuring that users could easily connect with their financial coaches, track their progress, and access resources without friction.

The challenge wasn’t just technical. It was about creating a human-centered experience that made financial planning feel approachable rather than overwhelming.

Solution

Design is a language in which we speak fluently

We designed the interface to be intuitive, reducing barriers to access and facilitating easy navigation. This solution emerged from interviews with participants and stakeholders, which provided valuable insights. A mobile-first approach aligned with how Compass’s users interacted with the program, resulting in a seamless experience that kept users engaged in their savings journey while maintaining strong connections with their financial coaches.
